Ankole Ox was a motherly figure walking through the savannah with a slow gait. Her horns tall like a royal crown and adorned in gold and beaded jewels. A hard worker with a sense of responsibility walked up to me as I walked through the heat of the savannah and asked me to sit down to rest. If you’ve ever been on the move all day, you start to feel anxious of not making it to your goal. She, on the other hand, reminded me to take a break.
I started sketching her move about her ox followers like a mother tending to her children. Sometimes she stops and rest hand across each other before moving to do something else. She reminded me of someone close to me. While regal and patient on one hand, there’s a hidden stubbornness to her such as still working around, yet told me to rest and drink water.
And yet still, I breathe in the warm air around me and continued journaling this quiet guardian.
