This isn’t just about creating black faces. This is about creating Black Freedom. The freedom to be mystical. The freedom to be tender. The freedom to be anything you can dream of.
As a kid outside of Chicago, I dreamed of princesses in gorgeous dresses, mermaids with shimmering tails and accessories, and magical girls with powers beyond this world. But every time I tried to step into those dreams, someone tried to push me out.
My canvases make those dreams real. They’re proof that what was once called “fake” is actually visionary.
I’ve noticed black women and girls being deemed too black for anime. Too soft for streetwear. Too girly, too serious, too… whatever. My art says: you are just right. Every dragon, magician, and fairy I paint is a reclamation of those false limitations.
Cosplay, fantasy, magic—these aren’t just for white girls or boys. My work opens that portal for black women to explore without apology.
My art reclaims softness, imagination, and emotional richness in Black Femininity. That alone makes my work politically radical—and personally vital—right now.
